So, what is Microneedling?

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

The idea of my blog is to give you, the client an insite to what we do here at Bare Skin Philosophy. We’ll discuss what Aesthetics are and what this means.

I will be doing the treatments on myself to give you a true picture of what to expect and detail the results. I will be starting with Microneedling and chemical peel in between treatments. I will provide you with what happens during a Microblading sessions and what to expect. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of anti-wrinkle injections and Dermal fillers and teach you how to care for your skin on a daily basis.

Microneedling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy.

Microneedling is a minimal invasive procedure using micro needles to create invisible puncture wounds on the skin’s surface. This sound super scary but it really isn’t. We do this to generate new collagen and elastin through the body’s wound healing proces.

A friend of mine would say “you have to suffer for your art”.

So, its not painful but can be done with a topical anaesthetic, i dont think its necessary. It’s quite bearable and only really feels warm on the skin. The needle depth is changed to suit the thickness of the skin. For example the skin on the forehead would require a lesser depth to the skin on the fatty parts of the face such as the cheek area.

I carry out Microneedling using Sofiderm SRS which is a mesotherapy product that intensively revitalises the skin with signs of aging. It ensures proper hydration, reduction of wrinkles, improvement of skin tone and density.

What more do we want from a treatment?

There are some great benefits to having Microneedling...

🔵 Reduction of Wrinkles

🔵 Improved Pigmentation

🔵 A Treatment for acne

🔵 Reduce the visibility of scarring

🔵 Improves deep pores

🔵 Reduces visible stretch marks

🔵 Helps with hair loss such as eyebrows

Obviously, this wont happen overnight, a number of treatments are often required to treat the skin complaint. I like to do a minimum of 4 treatments 2 weeks apart. If you want quicker results, its advised to have an interim chemical peel in between Microneedling sessions.

Where can I have the treatment?

Honestly? Anywhere on your body.

Generally we Microneedle the face, neck, décolletage and backs of the hands. If you have a flat, well healed scar that’s more than 6 weeks old somewhere else on your body, we can do that too.

This is my tired face before Microneedling...

This is my face directly after Microneedling...😱

Hmmm, a little red... this went within 2 hours and my face looked ‘normal’ again.

My main concerns are

  1. Enlarged pores

  2. A scar that you can see on my cheek

  3. Pigmentation around the scar

  4. Fine lines on my forehead

I’ll update you in two weeks after my second treatment 🙌
