The act of Microneedling creates multiple superficial puncture wounds, releasing growth factors that stimulate the fibroblasts creating new collagen and elastin. The aim of the treatment is to traumatise the skin without collateral damage to the epidermis and healthy tissue. The recovery is rapid with very little downtime, residual pain or discomfort. Microneedling increases the availability of cell nutrients and helps to strengthen the collagen in vessel walls and connective tissue. It increases the density of the epidermis lessening the appearance of broken capillaries.
